These sculptures were made in my home studio in the winter and spring of 2015. The small holes are created wtih miniature cookie cutters. After rolling a slab of clay and measuring off a grid, I press the cutter into the clay for each individual hole. Larger openings and carvings are made with an x-acto knife and various clay tools. The components of the pieces can be rearranged to convey a different setting, altering the mood, meaning and perception of the group. With the exception of the wood fired piece, this work comprised my thesis exhibitoin work at the New Hampshire Institute of Art, July 2015.
